DREAM Alumni Happenings
- Naomi Barth (West Chester University) finished her B.S. degree in Physics in three years and is currently enrolled as a Ph.D. student in MSE at Drexel University.
- Melissa Schillo (OSU) is pursuing her Ph.D. at OSU as an IGERT Fellow, and is a co-author on a patent application from Drexel University [REU-9].
- Elaine Steinke (Cedar Crest College) is working at Arrow International doing R&D.
- Shadbeh Taghizadeh (University of Massachusetts Lowell) is completing her master’s in a B.S./M.S. program and is looking into pursuing a Ph.D. This upcoming year she will be working with elementary school teachers to implement engineering and the engineering design process to first and second graders at two local schools.
- Jeremy Griffin (WPI) is currently doing an internship at Boston Scientific in Marlborough, MA and will start a Ph.D. program in Biomedical Engineering at Rutgers University in the fall.
- Maxim Rapoport (University of Pennsylvania) is currently attending law school at Temple University and specifically cited the presentation on patent law as part of the DREAM program to be one of the factors that influenced his decision to go to graduate school in this area.
- Daniel Berrigan (UIUC) will be starting a master’s program at Georgia Tech this fall. He is considering switching to a Ph.D. “I really am grateful for the DREAM program. I really think it helped to grant me the opportunity to go to graduate school.”
- Brendan Donohue (Drexel University) is currently enrolled as a Ph.D. student at Drexel University. As a part of his DREAM experience, he collaborated with researchers from Los Alamos National Laboratory and his research results are now being prepared for multiple journal publications.
- Katherine Doyle (McGill University) will be working in the Fire Control Division of the Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey. The skills she learned in DREAM directly contributed to her getting the job. She plans to pursue a graduate degree in the near future. “Being a part of DREAM last summer was really helpful to me and I’m so thankful for the opportunity. Visiting the ARL in Aberdeen was a great experience and definitely a factor in steering me towards civilian work for the military.”
- Melanie Patel (Drexel University) has just completed her B.S./M.S. degree and is looking to work in industry before continuing her education, possibly to become a patent lawyer.
